Family Child Care Rocks!

As a nature based school, you would think that my blog should be all about playing in nature with young children. However, it’s hard for me to write that blog and think that I am going to bring anything new to the table. There are so many other excellent research based books, blogs, and podcasts that already espouse the benefits of nature play based education.

I did some quick internet searching and realized that there are not a lot of other books or blogs that focus on family childcare specifically. Other than Tom Copeland, who writes from an accountant's perspective and other family child cares that talk about their personal day cares, there is not much that talks about why family childcare rocks! Therefore, the goal of this blog is going to be to write about how family childcare can be the perfect venue for meeting the needs of young children.

Though I come from a nature play based curriculum, this blog is for all Family Childcare providers. Whether you are Reggio Emilia inspired, Waldorf, High Scope, Creative Curriculum, Tools of the Mind, play school, or nature based, as a family childcare provider we all get to offer a unique setting for our home based schools. I will not be focusing on this to contrast family child care with other settings but rather to stress the value of our own.
